So I've been really out of the loop on here, which may be why no one's been really looking at my new work. I'm right now living in a rather solitary environment artistically, and so I'm having a hard time deducing if no one is viewer my work because no one cares about me because I'm a rather absent figure on DA or because the work I'm making is bad...

Wahwahwah poop.

I feel like DA is dying in a way in terms of a social aspect. Noone ever comments these days. I admit that I myself mainly use it as a "storage" for my work and do most of my networking and critiquing on instagram. Speaking of which, do you use instagram? I've loved your work for years and would love to follow you if you have an account.

I don't have Instagram, but I have a tumblr? I don't use it much, but I like it the best of the social media platforms I've tried in terms of sharing images. And thanks so much!

it's been a long long time since I've used this website myself, but from what I remember it seems like it's fundamentally one of social networking -- the more you interact with other artists the more feedback you will get. silly that the socializing gets ahead of the artistic quality but that may be a big part of the silence..

I don't usually comment anymore because I'm not sure what artists are looking for, but since you're asking, will just say that I went through my mountains of deviations in my message center today and deleted/unwatched all the artists I no longer felt a connection to.. yours was one of the few I kept. Your work is a delight to the eyes, beautiful and eerie and mystic in a way that woke me up in the most satisfying way. I lingered to look and that's a rare thing. I say keep your chin up and keep creating!

some artists have less comments than you have and they are fantastic also..those    who have a lot of comments are working on it..."i think"..they interact back and forth with other artists or their visitors..but of course this takes effort and time;  popularity has nothing to do with being good...far from it very often..

Yeah, I guess I'm just remembering when the community was smaller? Thanks for the feedback tho!

your work is pretty darn awesome.  my comment rate dropped a ridiculous amount as well.  I think most people on here just like facebook and a bunch of other locations would rather just like and not really put that much thought into actually writing an indepth comment.

Huh, yeah I can see that. Perhaps I'm even a little guilty of it. Ten years ago DA was pretty much the only networking site I knew of, how crazy is that!? But it all changes a bit fast for me at least...

the lack of comments is discouraging for me as well.  I have even been tempted to delete this thing again.  I will explore your page and comment on what calls to me.

First,I love your work and style.

Your newer work has some dramatic stylistic differences that for me (only knowing what I have seen previous) could use a statement of sorts? Maybe that's a cop out for my simple mind looking to have something in the work I don't quite understand explained...but the starkness of the new work as compared to the emotionally dripping previous stuff is an obvious shift that not having the luxury of going to the shows and reading statements and listening to conversation, leaves me with lots of questions. I suppose we do have the venue to ask in the comment section here but sometimes don't wan't to feel stupid or just don't know what to ask.

I am drawn to the emotion and expressiveness in the older work. I have to believe you are still that same artist but making your statement (maybe even the same one) in a different way. Insight is all I would seek. Still enamored with your work. Old and new. I apologize if my comment is convoluted, I made an attempt to be serious on the fly.... couldn't let your call go unanswered. Keep up the great work.

I really appreciate your response. Thank you, first off, for putting so much thought into it.

I don't really know what direction I'm going in thematically, I just know I can't keep working as a nanny my whole life, and people have bought more drawings than paintings in the past. I still have plans to create more runny watercolors, but to be honest, I kind of stopped liking them myself. I'm really glad you do, and it helps to know that others still like them.

I guess I've also just wanted to illustrate ideas outside of myself again, and not just whats going on internally. I dunno.. I'll think a lot about what you've said. Thank you again.

Hope you're well!
